Abstract :
Marc Lelarge, head of the DYOGENE project team, presents the work of his team in 180 seconds.
The team studies networks, entities of nodes connected to each other by links. It's about finding the optimal structure, thanks to probabilistic tools. The differences in scale are also taken into account: the constraints are rather at the micro level (to avoid collisions at a crossroads), whereas the notions of performance are to be found at the macro scale (to maximize the flow on the entire road network). It is a question of finding the algorithm that will reach the optimum, for example to know what type of roundabout to build to maximize the flow.
Speaking of applications, they are interested in road networks (cars, Vélib) but also in all communication networks, such as telephone networks (where the nodes are the relay antennas and the communication is done by radio) or energy networks (tricky as some energy cannot be stored), or even virtual networks such as social networks or those related to the internet (we can consider every page of Wikipedia as a node). In the end, they manage to make recommendation algorithms.
